Language– Maltese and English are the official languages of Malta. English is widely spoken across the island. 

Entry Requirements– Malta is part of the Schengen Area, allowing visa-free travel for many visitors, including those from the EU, UK, and USA, for short stays. Check specific entry requirements based on your nationality before traveling.

Accommodation– Malta offers a range of accommodations, from luxury resorts along St. Julian’s and Sliema to charming boutique hotels in Valletta. For a more relaxed experience, consider staying in Gozo, which offers cozy guesthouses and villas.

Food – Maltese cuisine is a delightful fusion of Mediterranean flavours with influences from Italy, North Africa, and the Middle East. Don’t miss local dishes like rabbit stew (Fenkata), pastizzi (flaky pastries filled with ricotta or mushy peas), and lampuki pie (fish pie).

Transportation

Things to be aware of before visiting Malta

Driving Etiquette Driving on the Left – Malta follows the British system of driving on the left-hand side of the road. Be cautious if you’re renting a car.

Shopping Shops usually close for a few hours in the afternoon, between 1 PM and 4 PM, especially in smaller towns. Large shopping malls in cities like Sliema tend to stay open throughout the day.

Local Attitudes Maltese people are very warm, friendly, and hospitable. It’s customary to greet people with a smile, and you’ll often find locals willing to help or give directions.
