France has the highest number of Nobel Prize winners of any nation in the world. As of August 2020, France had a total of 70 Nobel Laureates. This includes 30 laureates in literature, 13 prizes for peace, 16 in chemistry and 11 in physics. Some famous French scientists who have won Nobel Prizes include Marie Curie (Physics), Alfred Kastler (Physics), Jean-Marie Lehn (Chemistry) and Pierre-Gilles de Gennes (Chemistry).
