Entry Requirements -France is in the EU so entry requirements for most foreign visitors include having a valid passport or travel document that covers the duration of their stay in France. Visitors from certain countries may also need a visa for entry purposes, so it is important to check before travelling to France.

Climate –France has a temperate climate with warm summers and cool winters in most areas. The northern part of the country tends to be colder than the south due to its proximity to the Atlantic ocean. Average temperatures range from 10°C in January to 24°C in July/August.

Transportation –Public transportation in France is very efficient and convenient. The extensive network of trains, buses, subways and trams make it easy to get around within cities and between different regions. There are also plenty of affordable rental car options for those who prefer to drive their own vehicle.

Food- French cuisine is famous worldwide thanks to its unique combination of rich flavours and ingredients. From seafood dishes to creamy sauces to the most exquisite patisserie, there’s something delicious to satisfy every palate! Specialties include steak frites (steak with french fries), confit de canard, (simmered duck leg), tarte tatin (upside-down apple tart) and mille-feuille (vanilla custard slice).

France has the highest number of Nobel Prize winners of any nation in the world. As of August 2020, France had a total of 70 Nobel Laureates. This includes 30 laureates in literature, 13 prizes for peace, 16 in chemistry and 11 in physics. Some famous French scientists who have won Nobel Prizes include Marie Curie (Physics), Alfred Kastler (Physics), Jean-Marie Lehn (Chemistry) and Pierre-Gilles de Gennes (Chemistry).

The camera phone was invented in France. IN 1997, Parisian Phillipe Kahn wired together his digital camera, his Motorola phone and a laptop and started up the software he had developed. The first photo he took was of his newborn daughter and he was able to instantly share the photo around the world.

The world's largest museum is in France. The Louvre Museum in Paris is so big that if you wanted to spend 30 seconds looking at each piece of art, it would take you approximately 100 days to get through the entire museum.

Many food delicacies which are thought to be French are not actually from France. This includes the chips or french fries which were invented in Belgium, the french toast (pain perdu) which origins go back to the Roman empire and even the croissant which came from Austria.
