Practical Information

Language– Spanish is the official language, and although English is common in tourist areas, don’t expect everyone you meet to speak Spanish. Learning a few basic phrases in Spanish can enhance your experience.

Entry Requirements– Most visitors, including UK and USA citizens, can enter Spain without a visa for short stays. Check specific entry requirements based on your nationality before traveling.

Accommodation – Spain has some of the biggest names in the hospitality industry such as Melia, NH Hotels, Palladium etc. You will find some of the world’s best luxurious resorts in coastal cities and elegant boutique hotels in cities such as Madrid and Barcelona. Spain also had some of the best self-catering accommodation I stayed in Europe, often in typical neighbourhoods and offering a very authentic and local experience.

Food – Spanish cuisine doesn’t need an introduction. From tapas and paella to regional specialties. Embrace the Spanish dining culture when you are there, with late-night dinners and afternoon siestas.

Climate– Spain experiences typical Southern European seasons with mild winters and very hot summers and has  diverse climates, ranging from Mediterranean along the coasts to continental in the interior. Summer is the high season and best for enjoying the golden beaches of Ibiza or Mallorca but expect crowds and high prices. Cities like Madrid or Granada  can experience very high heat in the summer months. Spring and Autumn are the best seasons for visiting mainland Spain.

Transportation – Spain has an efficient transportation network, including high-speed trains, buses, and domestic flights. Major cities have well-developed metro systems. Transport is also one of the most affordable and efficient in Europe.
